Within the creeks close to Marseille, 37 metres underwater, lies the one submerged cave on the planet that is coated with cave work. On its damp partitions, individuals have painted horses, bison, ibex and even penguins – animals that have been current within the south of France throughout the Ice Age. The oldest work date again some 27,000 years.
Totally found in 1991 by native diver Henri Cosquer, the cave is an archaeological treasure, however is doomed to vanish due to rising sea ranges: inside a couple of a long time, the cave can be fully flooded.
